ROBOTISATION, APPROACH & BENEFITS
At the start of this century, we started to explore expanding our production capacity. We didn’t work in a shift system and we wanted to keep it that way. Initially, this resulted in an element of automation, but we soon developed a production cell containing a lathe, two conveyors and a 6-axis robot.
We now use a number of these production cells, enabling us to produce different products in different materials and quantities during a single unmanned cycle, without the intervention of an employee. This has reduced our delivery times.
There was some scepticism among our employees when the first robot appeared, but each robot is now welcomed with cheers and regarded as a colleague. That’s because this colleague continues working whilst we are enjoying our evening hours or weekends, and produces the larger quantities, leaving the fun work to our employees.
